What Is Your Product R&D Project’s Structure When Working With Agilian?

Agilian is a contract manufacturer that also supports customers with developing their products, too, before mass producing them. When you work with Agilian on prototyping your product idea, or on a DFM review of your design, they help cover your wider product R&D process.

But how does a typical R&D project unfold from start to finish when you work with us?

We created this graphic to help explain visually what you can expect when working with us:

Agilian R&D Project Flow Chart

Let’s break down the steps you see above:

  1. Initial exchange with you where you introduce what you are looking for, perhaps by email
  2. You’ll speak with a member of our top management who will listen to your requirements and together you’ll set the scope of the project and its objectives
  3. Agilian makes an offer for starting to work on the project, including estimated total costs until the next stage (however due to the nature of early-stage projects where a lot can change quickly these are subject to change and you will be informed in advance if costs do need to change)
  4. You will decide to go ahead (or otherwise)
  5. We create a team for your project and the initial invoice is paid
  6. Work can start
  7. The team makes progress and supplies you with your design files as soon as they are created or updated (we do not retain these as our own IP; we make sure our customers have the latest version of the native files)
  8. Your dedicated contact feeds back with regular updates and can be contacted to discuss the project as and when needed from your side (this will typically be your project manager)
  9. Most deliverables are completed and are, again, shared with you as you own them
  10. The prototype will be tested (if required) and test reports provided, much of which can be achieved using our in-house testing laboratory
  11. The scope of the next actions for the project is planned with your involvement
  12. A refined project plan is made now including more accurate cost estimates (since we all have a clearer idea of where the project is going as we are making progress)
  13. Your team starts working on the next phase of the project as soon as you give the go-ahead
