Why is the PCBA so important?

Printed Circuit Board Assembly is at the heart of electronics manufacturing and almost all electronic products (made in China and elsewhere) have a custom PCBA which includes their most important components which are soldered onto it in place and then tested.

The device won’t function properly and may not be safe if there are issues on a PCBA, so it is definitely a critical submodule.

Industries & Example Builds

agilian industrial 1

Wearables & Hearables
(ANC/BT/LE)

Problem: high defect rate in solder joints during pilot run.
Solution: optimized reflow profile + 3D AOI tuning.

Result: FPY ↑ 98% at PVT

agilian industrial 2

IoT Gateways

& Smart Home

Problem: unstable firmware flashing & inconsistent MAC assignment.
Solution: integrated J-TAG programming + secure serialization.

Result: 100% accurate MAC tracking

agilian industrial 3

Consumer Electronics/
Audio Device

Problem: High return rate due to intermittent audio drop outs after shipping.
Solution: Introduced ICT + FCT on every board, plus X-ray checks on critical BGAs and a short burn in test to screen early life failures.

Result: Warranty returns ↓ ~80% and field failure rate < 0.5% on stable builds.

agilian industrial 4

Industrial Controls
& Sensors

Problem: long testing cycles and fixture failures.
Solution: custom FCT jig + boundary scan based validation.

Result: test time ↓ 37%

What benefits can you expect by keeping your PCBA in-house at Agilian?

We regularly assist customers who use us as their EMS supplier developing and making their electro-mechanical products, and manufacturing PCBA in China is just one part of this process where electronic devices are involved.

So it makes sense to keep your PCBA in-house with us at the same time, rather than outsourcing to a third party, because you’ll get the following benefits:

PCBA FAQs

PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) is the process of assembling electronic components onto a circuit board to create a functioning electronic system.

The PCBA controls how the product functions. Any issues in components, assembly, or testing can lead to product failure or reliability problems.

Risks include counterfeit components, poor assembly quality, insufficient testing, and lack of transparency from suppliers.

Agilian controls sourcing, performs assembly in-house, and applies structured testing to ensure quality, traceability, and reliability.

Testing includes functional testing, validation using test fixtures, and performance verification before integration into final products.

Companies developing electronic products, especially those requiring high reliability and scalable production.
